The author Mr. P.J. Tomy, M.Sc. (Ag) was a Scientist in Kerala Agricultural University. After retiring as Associate Professor, he was Manager of St. George School, Chellanam, started in 1917 by his grand father, late Kannu Kaippari.

The School management decided to Celebrate Platinum Jubilee of the School in 1991. Having many valuable photos and records, the management decided to document them by publishing a Souvenir in Commemoration of the Platinum Jubilee.

The author was assigned the charge of preparing the history of the school. While gathering the details about the School, he happened to come across the wonderful and splendid history of the sea-coast where the school is situated. Having collected some details, a small article about the coast was published in the same Souvenir.

After releasing the Souvenir, the author studied in detail about Kerala Coast and published a booklet in Malayalam in 1998. The present publication is an English version with more details.
